The Yonah is not related to Intel's big disaster chip, the Pentium D 810, but was botched to the point that the engineers turned off EMT64!
Really? I had understood that Yonah was close architecture wise to the previous Pentium M, while Merom represents the first "true" Core architecture.
Cheers.

Let me clarify, i made my decision before this news was posted here. I really dont see nothing wrong with waiting on this refresh especially if it will be a huge step forward(which i believe it will be).
Its fine, but if you need it get it, if you dont then wait, at the end of the day this is a rumor.

People who speed and drive under the influence make me sick. Pull the apps. And when you catch the scum, throw them n jail and take away their licence. The don't deserve to walk among us.
The overwhelming majority of DUI/OVI offenders are otherwise law-abiding, taxpaying citizens who make a mistake and never repeat it again.
Mandatory jail time for OVI charges (which virtually all states now have), in this day and age, is akin to an employment death-sentence for many people who lose their job if they have to do time.
If anything, OVI penalties are already too harsh for first time offenders.

Ultimately: who cares?
Bono still sucks, U2 has always sucked, and, much as i like a) the color of the new iPod and b) fighting AIDS, Apple's weird extended relationship with Bono makes very little sense to me.
P.S. Damn, Bono sucks.
Bono has done more good to the world musicly and giving wise than most muscians.

Apple keeps burning bridges and eventually it's going to come back to bite them in the ass. Samsung is holding all the cards here. Apple needs Samsung but Samsung doesn't need Apple. I wouldn't be surprised if Sammy has some unexpected production issues with ipad parts here shortly.

Ah, classic manipulation of an idea. At no point in that post did I say "helping people" is a bad thing, or that it should never be done. Quite the contrary... I actually said:
So please, don't cherrypick. Education is the only answer to this problem, nobody disputes that. But to say there is absolutely no correlation between the death and suffering going on in Africa, and a large portion of that society which is beyond help and beyond the limitations of education would be naive.
There are times in human history when, despite all our better efforts, nature is going to run its course, and those groups who have not adapted their lifestlye and way of thinking are left behind. I'm certainly not saying don't try, nor am I saying that saving even a single life wouldn't be worth the effort. I'm merely saying that Africa's problems are deeper than education. There's a culture there that has been in place a lot longer than even our own system of education and medicine has existed. To think that we can change that by giving them some condoms, explaining how they work and why it's important, is foolish. I'm saying that Africa will sort out it's own problems in time, when those individuals who recognize the problem for themselves get a voice. We can help, and every little bit helps, but it's not ours to fix. This is FAR FAR more complex and rooted than a kid who hurts his knee on a skateboard.
AMEN brotha!

HDMI wireless coupled with a wireless iPod/Tablet that allows you to see your controls would be a must for many Mac fans.
It would make a lot of sense if Apple isn't going to do a Mac Pro Mini to do a HDMI wireless instead. And because your Mac is likely to be in another room (target audience being the iMac) they need a wireless (non-line of sight) remote, so either an iPod or a new device.

Censorship! Don't do it, Apple!
What, its ok for Apple to censor based on its whims, but not the government?
Actually I think they're both wrong. Shouldn't censor. Once the government starts censoring what information was can access, what else is next?
Bleep out phone calls is someone mentions a DUI checkpoint?
Remove all DUI checkpoint discussions from Google? Remove them entirely from the web?
Censorship is a slippery slope. Apple has invited this level of control because of their own Orwellian rules on the app store.
So much for freedom of speech. We are losing all our supposed 'freedoms' in this country at an alarming rate, and few care or notice.

you don't remember www.jailbreakme.com last year? you swipe and it installs all kinds of code on your iphone
Wrong. It takes more than a swipe. It requires user interaction.
Is there nothing AV trolls won't stoop to in their vain efforts to sell their useless software?

It took my Black MB about 70 mins to download "Deuce Bigalow". This was over a decent but not great motel WiFi setup, and I was downloading some other stuff for about half the time.
You were downloading Deuce Bigelow in 1080p, or in 640x480 from iTMS?
Sounds more like 640x480. So by extrapolation 1080p which has 6.75 as many pixels would be somewhere like 2.5-6 times as long to download. i.e. it could take up to 7 hours to download.

If a few people on MacRumors find me to be childish, I really couldn't care less. Believe me, what you guys think of me is not going to ruin my chances of getting into an Ivy League school, or from becoming a successful adult.

No, you'll ruin them well enough on your own.

The seemingly only purpose of this app is to avoid the checkpoints could be dangerous to those of us who don't drink and drive. They should pull any app.

Erm... that is wrong. All major Hollywood DVDs are encoded as progressive full frames at 23.976fps. The interlacing you are seeing is the result of adding pulldown frames to pad it out to 29.97 interlaced for NTSC. And since they are encoded anamorphically, it uses the full 720x480 and depending on your output display, either gets letterboxed or stretched wide on a real 16:9 HDTV.
Are iTS movies letterboxed? If so, then the quality of iTS movies is closer to 640x360.
Yea, I see. I wouldn't be surprised if they were letterboxed... I would rather wait till a tv show comes out "widescreen" and see for myself for 1.99 then 9.99 and be dissapointed...
Hopefully, over time, the quality will get better. It seems to me, apple is matching video quality of the downloads exactly to what the iPod can handle... so maybe it all depends on the iPod getting a better screen and processor...

Agree to that, but why is it being collected without permission?
I bet it's somewhere in the ToC that none of us read.

Check out the October issue of PC Magazine. This phone is on the cover as "what's hot now". It is made by LG. It is described just as the iPhone is being described. So the iPhone can't look like this or they will get sued. Or this is it and LG is making it for Apple???

According to MacWorld, they originally reported the date as the 24th, but have corrected their article and it is the 25th.
Not a huge deal, just clarifies that there will not be an Apple Special event then a seperate event at Photokina.
--HGDo we have an exact hour the event will be held. Because it's at least 8 maybe 10 hours later in Germany than it is in San Francisco. So that would be helpful. I haven't had time to read teh whole thread.
I think it will be Aperature 2 UB and the MBP launch. 2.33GHz C2D 17" with easy HD access and swap outs.
So I guess it's eleven more days for Apple to keep buildin' 'em and stackin' 'em on up and dispersin' 'em throught the planet so we can TROUNCE on 'em that fateful Monday morning when Apple starts sellin' 'em.! :p

Why can't Apple tell its own phones apart?

How they confused the two in a legal battle is beyond me. If it's all about looks, surely getting the interface of the 3GS is somewhat important. No?

I currently have a 3gen 40GB iPod.
I've been waiting forever for the 80GB to show up.
I use mine for music/ data storage and photo backup storage off microdrives and flash drives.
I just hope everyone knows this looks like a stop gap on the iPod side of things. I willing to bet another iPod gets released right before X'mas or at MacWorld. Probably the so call touch screen ver. and then everyone will whine again about something.
I was simply amazed by the iTV announcement!

And what does that have to do with the app store trademark? He doesn't mention "app store" does he?
No mention of App store. I was just watching the video recently and found it interesting.
