As if, but noone knows what will happen. I mean, what were their projections back in 2004 for 2009-10? Obviously no Apple factor lol!

Why don't Microsoft just call theirs the 'Crap Store' and have done with it? :D

They do build in obsolescence into the ipod as you can't replace the battery (easily). It does become a disposable item, although a pricey one at that. I do love the ipod (even though I don't own one) but this puts me off to the point where I just can't go through with actually buying one. My experience with rechargeable batteries in mobile phones and lap top isn't good.

Come on Mac Mini update; well overdue for a refresh. That Core 2 Duo is keeping me from buying.
Waiting for this one too! Hurry up Apple.

Hmm mixed feelings about this.
I want them to be successful, but I also want:
- DVD extras
- HD resolution
- burnable to disc
- rental system
I hope success won't lull them into thinking the current restrictions are ok. :(
Oh well, I can stick with DVDs.

Yeah I forgot about the Kinect. Maybe MSFT is finally breaking out of that rut.

The last 27" i7 iMac is the best computer I've ever bought. I went pretty full-out. Got 2 hard drives including an SSD and went for full-speed with 8GB of RAM. I also have my 30" Cinema Display attached. Absolutely couldn't be happier. Best work-horse ever!

Lets sue the name "apple"
"the compound noun 'apple' means simply ' a healthy object created by nature wich will give you pleasure and a longer life,' which is merely a definition of the thing itself--a generic characterization."
Yep i have few of those...One is 24"

Honestly the term "app" didn't even exist 5 years ago.
Yes, it did.

It appears that Mr. Kuo has some reliable tipsters in the supply chain and that he might actually have a clue.
One cannot the same thing about Gene Munster, Shaw Wu, or Katy Huberty. Their track record is atrocious and I'm inclined to disbelieve any of their blatherings.
I'm planning on picking up one of these new MacBook Airs.

I don't usually speculate, but I find it interesting "Showtime" is capitalized. Could the downloads be part of some partnership with the cable channel? Just wild speculation on my part.

WOW this is a major privacy breach.
This PROVES Apples an EVIL ENTERPRISE.
THE WORST BY FAR!
So damn hypocritical - accusing Google, all the while they're doing the same damn thing behind the backs of their supporters.
Personally I was aware long before this article, but I refused to reveal it since Apple's minions would have thrown tantrums of denial.
While I don't like it, the fact is ALL TECH COMPANIES do this.
Privacy was a thing of the past, long ago. Don't kid yourself, if you've used a computer in the last ten years its already too late. The only "new" development is geo location.
Welcome to the future, today.

MacCentral posted (http://www.macworld.com/2006/09/firstlooks/imacbench/index.php) a first look at the new Core 2 Duo iMac along with some early benchmarks.
The new iMacs which were released on Wednesday (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/09/20060906091309.shtml) incorporate the latest Core 2 Duo processor from Intel. The Core 2 Duo represents the continuation of the Core Duo line which first made its appearance in Apple computers in January. Intel has maintained that the new chips would provide roughly 20% improvement in performance.
MacCentral tested the new 17" 2GHz iMac and 20" 2.16GHz iMac and compared them to the previous 20" 2GHz Core Duo and the 2.66GHz Mac Pro.
The most direct comparison between the two processors comes between the 17" 2GHz Core 2 Duo iMac and the 20" 2GHz Core Duo iMac. The overall score was 10% better in the new model while the individual tests showed gains up to 20%.

The "step forward" of which you speak, of which is the basis of this article, is only in regards to the exterior design, nothing else. Sure if they improve upon the durability and the ease of servicing, that'll be a decent step forward, otherwise, we're talking about cosmetics, and again while most of the people who lurk these forums care about form over function, function is all that matters and it won't be that different next rev, redesign or not.
Herp derp. Im pretty sure there will be a minor spec bump as well, and exterior design in a laptop is a pretty important feature or a "function and should be taken in consideration just as well (or not even more) than a new "ixy procesor" and a "8650 gt mx" graphics card, which in most cases just serve as a hard on for spec geeks.
why am i even responding you are clearly bitter and are writing purely from that bitterness.

What sort of criminal brings a gun to a robbery? The sort of criminal that is willing to utilize their gun to get away at all costs. Human life is not sacred to criminals that carry guns; whether it's their own lives or the lives of innocent people; or the lives of law enforcement or the lives of security guards...
This was NEVER your run of the mill "smash & grab" but a premeditated crime w/guns...

A mid-tower between the Mini and Pro seems to be the only possible home for Conroe. And, even though I would love to buy one, I'm not sure if Apple really want to release such a machine.
You never know though, we could be in for a nice surprise sometime soon.
I for one need just this kind of setup. I use a mini, but it's integrated graphics is a bit pokey and cost difference between that and a Mac Pro leaves me with no choice but to endure the mini for a bit longer. The iMac is perfect, in terms of performance, but I don't want an all-in-one white computer at work. This is the downside to Apple taking a minimilist approach to their product offering. I think they could add a mid-tower without compicating things.

I think the big advantage to this downgrade will be buying clearance and refurbished Nvidia-based MBAs for 25% discounts... Unless Apple somehow fits a standard voltage SB CPU in the 13" MBA, I think most will be better off with C2D and Nvidia 320m at discounts.
Thats what I'm thinking...hoping to grab a 13 at ~1000/1100 on Amazon.
